Education & experience
A native of Brazil, Mariane studied Ecology at the São Paulo State University. She thenearned a Master of Arts in Global Leadership and Sustainable Development at Hawaii Pacific University. Mariane’s passion for sustainable living inspired her to become a Master Certified Health Coach at the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute, where she specialized in pregnant women, families and seniors.
As a Certified Group Exercise Instructor with AFAA (American and Fitness Association of America), she has led various Run Clubs and offered clinics to both runners and triathletes. Mariane also served an Assistant Coach for the Cross Country team at her alma mater, Hawaii Pacific University.
Ironman & Marathon
Mariane’s love for nature extends to adventures as a runner and triathlete. She views triathlons as a unification of our planet’s natural elements: swimming (water), biking (air) and running (earth). Her training emphasizes the principles of sustainability through a daily commitment to small, powerful steps. Mariane has participated in hundreds of races, including three marathons and six Ironman races. She was the first female amateur at the Ironman Brazil in 2014, the first Brazilian woman to cross the finish line at the Ironman World Championship in 2013, and the first Brazilian female to finish out of all Brazilian females at the 2011 New York Marathon.
Getting to know Mariane
In her free time, Mariane enjoys going to the beach and coffee shops, watching movies, and laughing with her husband Tim, who is the happiest person she knows. She loves being a part of a big Okinawan immigrant family and credits her parents for raising her and her two brothers in an exceptionally loving environment. Mariane delights in nature, dancing, sunrises and sunsets, hanging out with friends, and above all, living a free lifestyle.
